Often an author finds herself writing what she knows. For those of you who know me, you'll find a few activities and familiar phrases in my writing. In no way should that be interpreted that Grace is a thinly veiled version of me. That being said, the woman curiously does enjoy gardening, hiking, writing and hummingbirds.

A body worker in a private practice for nearly twenty years, KCWebb enjoys hiking, genealogy, gardening and of course, reading.
A hundred years ago or so, at her eighth birthday party, some very thoughtful classmate gave her a NancyDrew Mystery book "The Secret of the Old Clock". This started a life long love affair with books, and a fascination with mystery solving in general.
The interest spilled from books into the arenas of high school plays, community theatre, youth productions, whodunnit mystery parties and has now circled back to books in the form of writing. An advocate for women holding positions of strength and power without resorting to the shenanigans their counterparts sometimes get into, Ms. Webb has long admired talented authors and strong heroines. Elizabeth Peters, Kay Scarpetta, Nevada Barr, Sue Grafton, Agatha Christie and of course Carolyn Keene have shaped generations of readers. And with role models such as these, how can a writer go wrong?
With a relatively short bucket list, one of KCWebb's goals is to live long enough to see future great grandchildren successful in their endeavors. She keeps busy with a full and blessed life and lives with her family in Northern California.

Where did Grace come from?
About 25 years ago, yes, longer than some of you have been alive....and you should know, I have shoes older than that. So....
About 25 years ago, there were some significant trials and tribulations in my life. Now, I was raised to be a good girl, with polite manners, reasonable homemaking skills and a proper respect for etiquette (I can hear you laughing...!). Annnywho.....
As you know, it was and still is considered extremely rude to resort to murder and mayhem, however justified the circumstances truly were. So, as you might imagine, I resorted to the next best thing. I thought about mayhem and murder. Thought about it long and hard. Okay, let's be honest. I thought about it A LOT. In the daytime, at nighttime, across the dinnertable, in the library, in the conservatory, with a candlestick..... I digress.
Over the course of a couple of years, Grace Watters was born. She started out pretty much a no nonsense , take no prisoners sort of gal. Of course she was usually chasing her hapless nemesis across rooftops while wielding a bloody machete. A very sharp and bloody machete, sending his severed body parts flopping through the treetops with delightful crimson sprays of....ooops, I digress again : )
A few years down the road Grace's adventures got to be so numerous I was running out of room in my head and I had to get some of them on paper. The first few scribbles were mere sketches of ideas and choreography; hints of personality and conviction. Some of them ran to a few paragraphs, a few were set aside as possible contest entries in case Alfred Hitchcock started a Reader's Digest version of carnage. But one page or twenty, they all had one common element - murder!
Several years after that I was horrified to find myself rewriting murder mystery fiction to suit Grace and what she would do when faced with the situations popular authors had placed their heroines in. It's hard to enjoy a good novel when you're tearing up pages in your head to edit them. So the only course of action was to put pen to paper.
Our experiences in life, good and bad, shape us into who we are. Grace's adventures over the last two decades have helped her evolve into a confident and competent Medical Massage Therapist by day and a successful Murder Mystery writer by night. Through no fault of her own, she finds herself caught up in the human failings of, you guessed it, murder and mayhem.
The first manuscript will be released as the third book in the Grace Watters series so you can get a better introduction to Grace. As you can imagine, practice makes perfe....errrr..... practice makes better. This book is more what I think you the reader, will enjoy anyway.
Book two is based on a real life cold case and one man's quest to bring a killer to justice. It will feature familiar characters as well as a few new faces and a whole new level of suspense.
Warm regards and Happy Reading! KCWebb
PS. For those of you family and friends endeavoring to discern which character is based on your scintillating personalities.... none! The only role model is in the photo at the left. :)
